Projects
For the sick and those in need, the world over.
Snehalaya Hospital, India
Funding: EUR 920,000.
The Snehalaya mission, which began in 1975 in the remote village of Solur, 45 km from the city of Bangalore, devotes itself to the sick and the suffering of Indian society.
The hospital has 60 beds and offers a full range of basic care. Treatment costs are kept low and are within reach of the local villagers.
In 2020, with the help of the Rexroth Foundation, a new outpatient building was opened. Girls from the surrounding villages can train as nurses, in home economics or as seamstresses. Young women are also trained to pass on what they have learned through self-help groups in their own villages. In this way as many as 40 villages in the area can be supported.
In the schools the children are taught by the sisters, and further support programmes are offered.
We have supported this project since 1981, with total funding to date of EUR 920,000.
